DYONMED AlcoSelftest

The DyonMed Alco Selftest® is an innovative, single-use self-testing device that detects ethyl alcohol concentration in exhaled breath. It utilizes a colorimetric chemical reaction inside a glass tube containing a highly sensitive reactive substance, adsorption granules, and filters.

When you exhale into the device, the reactive substance changes color based on the amount of alcohol present in your breath. It allows you to immediately determine your breath alcohol content with a high accuracy of 0.2‰ (permille), equivalent to 0.1 mg/L in exhaled air.

How to Use the DyonMed Alco Selftest®:

1. Wait at least 15 minutes after your last drink of alcohol, food consumption, or cigarette to ensure accurate results.
2. Remove the two protective caps from both ends of the glass tube.
3. Inhale deeply and exhale completely (twice) directly into the mouthpiece on the side marked with the red arrows.
4. Wait for the chemical reaction and compare the resulting color of the crystals with the color scale provided on the packaging (best viewed under natural daylight).

Interpretation of Results:

• POSITIVE: If the color of the crystals changes and matches the 0.2‰ scale (or becomes darker), it indicates a breath alcohol concentration of 0.2‰ or higher. DO NOT DRIVE IF YOU HAVE A POSITIVE RESULT.
• NEGATIVE: The crystals retain their original color, indicating that your breath alcohol concentration is below the detectable limit.

DO NOT DRIVE IF YOU HAVE A POSITIVE RESULT. Alcohol consumption negatively affects your driving abilities by delaying reflexes, reducing coordination, and increasing risky decision-making. If you test positive at the first measurement level (0.2‰), you should drink water, wait at least 30 minutes, and repeat the test to ensure a negative result before driving. Keep in mind that the human liver metabolizes approximately one unit of alcohol per hour. This test is strictly for self-monitoring purposes and does not replace official police breathalyzer tests or blood tests. Keep out of reach of children.

• Smoking, eating, or consuming non-alcoholic beverages immediately before testing can lead to inaccurate results. Always respect the mandatory 15-minute waiting period before using the device.
• For maximum accuracy, evaluate the color change under a good light source or natural daylight.
